Job Opportunity: Stepdown Cardiac Registered Nurse (RN)
Location: Durham, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 10 weeks
Position Overview
- Role: Registered Nurse in Stepdown/Cardiac Telemetry unit
- Schedule: 8-week blocked rotating days/nights
- Shifts: 3 shifts per week, including 2 Mondays and/or Fridays
- Weekend Requirement: 2 weekend shifts per 4 weeks
- Floating: PCU/Stepdown/IMCU units
- On-Call: Yes
- Blocked Scheduling: Not open to blocked scheduling
- First-time travelers and local candidates are welcome
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Cardiac Telemetry nursing, including recent experience within the last year in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
- Experience with Telemetry and PCU (Progressive Care Unit) settings
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Certifications issued by the American Heart Association:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification
- Experience with EPIC electronic health record system
Orientation & Training
- Orientation sessions held bi-weekly
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training provided during orientation
- Unit-specific competency exams required
- Color of scrubs: Royal Blue
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background checks including SSN trace, county checks, sex offender, and education verification
- Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen (including THC) within 30 days of start
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (every 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) vaccination or positive titers
- Hepatitis B vaccination/titer or declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Seasonal flu vaccination (declinations not accepted)
- Polio vaccine or attestation
- References: 2 professional references from employment within last 12 months (at least 1 supervisor)
- Employment application and skills checklist (updated annually)
Additional Notes
- Candidates must set up a guest account prior to clearance to access orientation and work systems
- Candidates with less than a 30-day gap from previous assignments may have some documentation accepted on file
- Candidates must complete all required online modules prior to orientation
- Compliance with all facility-specific onboarding and competency requirements is mandatory
