Job Opportunity: MS/Tele Float Registered Nurse

Location: Baltimore, Maryland
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Float RN position covering Med Surg (MS), Intermediate Care (IMC), and Emergency Department (ED) Boarder as needed.
  • Float to ED to care for boarders and/or inpatient units.
  • Shift options: 3x12 or 4x12 hour shifts (1900-0730).
  • Every 3rd weekend required.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland.
  • Minimum 2 years of Med Surg / Telemetry experience, including experience within the last year.
  • Emergency Department (ED) experience.
  • Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment.
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • Experience working with pediatric patients.
  • Experience in an inpatient setting.

Additional Requirements

  • Must complete background checks including criminal background, education verification, and federal/state screenings.
  • Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana).
  • Annual physical exam confirming ability to perform work without accommodations and free from communicable disease.
  • Immunization and health documentation required:
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 1 year, updated annually)
    • Tdap vaccine within 10 years preferred
    • Documentation of MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) and Varicella immunity or vaccination
    • Hepatitis B titer, series, or signed declination
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season
  • N95 Fit Test within 9 months of start, updated annually (client may complete onsite if needed).
  • Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years.
  • Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education, employment, license, and contact information.
  • Skills checklist and competency exams required prior to start and updated annually.

Work Environment

  • Float between Med Surg, Telemetry, IMC, and ED Boarder units as needed.
  • Shift work includes nights and weekends.

Summary

This travel RN position requires a minimum of 2 years Med Surg/Telemetry experience, ER holding experience, and prior travel experience. Candidates must be flexible to float across multiple units and pass rigorous competency exams including EKG interpretation. Certifications in ACLS and BLS are mandatory. The role demands strong clinical skills, adaptability, and compliance with comprehensive health and background screening requirements.
