Job Opportunity: Case Manager Registered Nurse

Location: Deerfield Beach, Florida
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Manage a caseload of 25-30 adult and geriatric patients daily (ratio 1:25-30).
• Work schedule: Monday to Friday, 5 days a week, 8-hour shifts (8:30 AM - 5:00 PM).
• Weekend coverage required approximately 2-3 weekend days per month, including one full weekend every 4 weeks.
• No call or holiday shifts.
• Must be prepared for hurricane sign-up (not guaranteed).
• Participate in utilization review vigilance to ensure timely and necessary diagnostic tests, consults, labs, and procedures.
• Work in a high-paced, high-volume acute care hospital environment.
• Level 1 Trauma experience preferred.

Required Qualifications

• Specialty: Registered Nurse (Case Management)
• Minimum 3 years of case management experience in an acute care hospital setting.
• Active Florida or Compact RN license.
• BLS certification (American Heart Association or American Red Cross).
• NIH Stroke Certification required.
• EPIC electronic health record experience required.
• Degree from an accredited nursing school or an institution approved by the Florida Board of Nursing.
• If degree is not accredited, must have 2 years of recent acute care experience within the past 24 months in a U.S. hospital.
• Familiarity with Cerner, CarePort (Allscripts), and Powerchart applications.
• Knowledge of Medicare Conditions of Participation documentation.
• Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Additional Requirements

• Physical exam confirming freedom from communicable diseases and ability to perform job functions without restrictions (completed within 6 months of start).
• Negative QuantiFERON TB test within 6 months (TSPOT and PPD not accepted).
• Annual TB questionnaire.
• Up-to-date immunizations or titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B.
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months.
• Annual fit mask test with approved mask models.
• Completion of multiple mandatory online orientation and training modules related to compliance, safety, emergency management, and nursing-specific topics.
• Background check within 6 months including alias, SSN trace, nationwide and county checks.
• Florida AHCA Level II fingerprinting clearance required.
• Two professional references from the last 2 years.
• Annual skills checklist.

Work Environment & Schedule

• 5x8 hour shifts, Monday through Friday.
• Weekend coverage: 2-3 weekend days per month plus one full weekend every 4 weeks.

• High volume, acute care hospital setting.
• Hurricane sign-up required but not guaranteed.

Certifications & Competencies

• BLS (AHA or ARC)
• NIH Stroke Certification
• ACLS may be required depending on unit (confirm with management)
• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (not required for case managers)
• Annual competency exams and color blindness testing as applicable

• Local candidates within a 60-mile radius are considered.
• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.

This position is ideal for experienced acute care case management RNs who are comfortable managing a high patient load in a fast-paced hospital environment and have strong knowledge of electronic health records and utilization review processes.
