Travel Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical
Location: Athens, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 14 weeks
Job Summary
- Patient Population: Adults to Geriatrics
- Unit Focus: Primarily pre/post-surgical and trauma care
- Common Surgeries: Thyroidectomy, mastectomy, GI surgeries
- Trauma Types: Motor vehicle accidents, gunshot wounds, stabbings, falls
- Other Diagnoses: Alcohol withdrawal, COPD, sepsis
- Patient Care: May include management of naso-gastric tubes, chest tubes, drains, ostomy/urostomy, and indwelling urinary catheters
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:5-6
- Unit Size: 29 rooms
- Systems Used: Epic, Pyxis, SBAR
- Scrub Color: Navy Blue
- Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 7 days
- Weekend Schedule: Every other weekend
- Floating: Yes, within facility and scope of practice as needed
- Call Requirements: None
- Holiday Work: Required to work major holidays during assignment (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day)
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia
- Minimum 1 year of Medical-Surgical nursing experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Additional Information
- Floating within the facility may be required as per scope of practice
- Orientation hours depend on contract length
- Full compliance with all requirements is necessary to start on time; delays in compliance may result in assignment start delays
- Locals accepted at the same rate
- No call responsibilities

- Not explicitly required; 1st time travelers are accepted
