Job Opportunity: Pre/Post OP Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Details

• Specialty: Registered Nurse (Pre/Post Operative)
• Shift: Day shift, 5 days a week, 8 hours per day (06:45 AM – 03:15 PM)
• Unit: 5-room unit with an average daily census of 25 patients
• Floating: May be required to float within scope to meet facility needs
• Block scheduling: Accommodated if needed
• Return to Office (RTO) restrictions: Ideally no more than 5 days

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Illinois
• Minimum 3 years of experience in PreOp / PACU - Post Anesthesia Care
• PreOp / PACU - Post Anesthesia Care experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• ACLS issued by American Heart Association
• BLS issued by American Heart Association

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Valid/current US Driver’s License or State ID
• Background checks within 30 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years, including:

  • SSN Trace, Counties, States, National Criminal, National Sex Offender, FACIS Level 3
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
• Education verification (initial degree verification required)
• State-specific searches within 30 days of start:

  • Illinois Department of Corrections Inmate Search
  • Illinois Most Wanted Search (must show all 20 wanted fugitives)
  • Illinois State Police Murderer and Violent Offender Against Youth Registry
• Fingerprinting: Must be completed in Illinois 3 business days prior to start for clinical candidates without an IL license
• NURSYS verification required for RN license
• Competency exam required for all clinical candidates
• Photo for badge (color, mid-shoulders up, plain background) due within one week of contract signing
• Code of Conduct acknowledgment within 7 days of contract signing
• Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required by November 30 annually

Health and Safety Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by an MD, NP, PA, or equivalent, confirming good physical and mental health and ability to perform job functions without restrictions
• Fit mask test required (3M 1860 small/regular, 1870, or 1870+ masks accepted); PAPR users exempt from fit test
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start
• TB questionnaire updated annually
• Immunizations or proof of immunity (2 doses or positive titer) or signed declination for:

  • Measles (Rubeola)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Varicella
  • Hepatitis B
• 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (includes amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cocaine, methadone, methaqualone, opiates, phencyclidine, propoxyphene)

Additional Notes

• Guaranteed hours: Client may call off up to 36 hours per 13-week assignment without pay obligation; excess cancellations will be billed
• On-call shifts count as called-off shifts if used in lieu of cancellation
• References: Two professional references required for all direct travel clinical candidates
• Skills checklist required for all clinical candidates

This position offers a structured day shift with a supportive environment for travel nurses, including first-timers, with clear compliance and health requirements to ensure safety and quality care.
