Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical/Telemetry Unit

Location: Bellevue, Nebraska
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (4 shifts per 12 hours, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Hours per Week: 48

Unit Overview

• 36-bed medical surgical/telemetry unit with emphasis on orthopedic patients.
• Additional surgical specialties: surgical oncology, general surgery, gynecological surgery, oral maxillofacial surgery.
• Telemetry monitoring provided.
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:5 (days), 1:6 (nights), occasionally 1:7 nights.
• Care team includes CNAs, care techs, transport team, paramedics; LPNs assigned on some floors.
• Floating required frequently within scope to various units including neuro, trauma, observation, and specialty units.
• 100% nicotine-free facility.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Nebraska
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum 2 years of telemetry nursing experience, including telemetry experience within the last year
• At least one completed travel nursing assignment
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

Scheduling & Time Off

• Option for 36 or 48-hour shifts.
• Weekend shifts: 4 out of 8 possible in a 4-week period (days: Sat/Sun; nights: Fri/Sat).
• RTO (Request Time Off) blackout dates: June 11–22, 2026 (due to College World Series).
• Up to two weeks of RTO permitted; requests must be submitted with application.
• Holiday work requirement applies.

Certifications & Compliance

• Background check within 30 days of start, including multi-county and federal checks.
• Drug screen within 60 days of start, updated annually.
• Physical exam and fit mask test within 1 year, updated annually.
• Immunizations required: Tdap (within 10 years), 2 MMR vaccines or positive titers, Hepatitis B titer or declination, 2 Varicella vaccines or positive titer.
• Annual PPD or equivalent TB testing required; chest x-ray if history of positive PPD.
• COVID vaccination preferred; medical/religious exemptions accepted.
• Annual skills checklist required.
• Two professional references from past 2 years required.
• State-specific registry and abuse/neglect checks required prior to start.
• Orientation safety manual acknowledgment required.

• Scrubs: Steele gray scrubs with facility logo mandatory; information provided upon confirmation.
• Parking permit available (~$55/month) or daily parking rates apply.
• Facility is a community hospital with 24-hour emergency care, surgery, intensive care, heart and vascular services, cancer services, orthopedics, and outpatient therapies.

This position is ideal for experienced travel RNs comfortable with frequent floating, telemetry monitoring, and working in a fast-paced, urban hospital environment.
