Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (LTC) - Travel/Contract
Location: Knoxville, Tennessee
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit Description
- Transitional Care Unit
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:7-8
- Float required
- Weekend requirement: Every other weekend or two per month
- Travelers requesting time off during holidays will generally not be accommodated (specific holidays listed in description)
Required Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC accepted; must be current and not expire within 45 days of assignment start
- NIHSS (NIH Stroke Scale) Certification - required for all RN candidates; actual downloaded certification required
- EKG Competency Exam - required within 12 months prior to start, minimum score 80% (not required for Transitional Care Unit)
- Other certifications may be required depending on unit (check unit description if applicable)
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Tennessee
- Minimum of 1 year of Long Term Care experience, with recent LTC experience within the last year
- Experience in a Transitional Care Unit
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIHSS certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Background check within 45 days of start, including 7-year SSN trace, alias verification, and multiple criminal and abuse registries
- Drug testing within 45 days of start (specific substances listed)
- Physical exam within 12 months of start, signed by MD, DO, NP, APRN, or PA
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within required timeframes
- Immunizations/vaccinations: MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Hepatitis B, Varicella, Flu vaccine (for 2025-26 season) or approved exemption
- Color blind testing within 12 months prior to start
- Skills checklist updated within the last year, unit-specific
- Employment application with 7-year work history, no unexplained gaps over 30 days
- Two supervisory references from the past 3 years
Additional Notes
- Photo for badge required (passport style, solid background, no filters or facial piercings)
- Travelers must adhere to holiday time-off policies
- Must have a valid driver’s license or state ID (color and current)
- Multiple competency exams and core parts I-III required annually with minimum 80% pass rate
