Job Opportunity: MRI Tech (Travel/Contract)

Location: Fort Lauderdale, Florida
Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Work schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM
  • Immediate start required (ASAP 2/16) with lab visit within 72 hours of signing
  • Must be highly experienced and self-sufficient, often working alone
  • Experience with GE MRI equipment is essential
  • Must be comfortable working independently in the modality

Required Experience & Skills

  • Minimum 5 years recent MRI experience (highest required years of experience)
  • Experience with GE equipment
  • Proficient in imaging of:
    • Abdomen/Pelvis
    • Chest
    • Head/Neck
    • Breast (preferred, not required)
    • Cardiovascular (preferred, not required)
    • Spine/Musculoskeletal
    • Diffusion (non-brain)
    • Perfusion
    • Gradient Echo Imaging
    • Image Post-Processing
    • Multiplanar Reconstruction
    • Spin Echo Images
    • Surface Coils
    • T-1 and T-2 Weighted Images
    • Maximum Intensity Projection (preferred)
  • Experience with isolation precautions
  • Adult patient experience required
  • Experience in inpatient (IP) and/or outpatient (OP) settings
  • EPIC experience required

Certifications & Licenses

  • ARRT-MR certification required
  • BLS certification via AHA or ARC required

Prior Travel Experience

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Background check within 6 months, including all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
  • Florida AHCA Level II fingerprinting required (results must be dated within 30 days of start)
  • Physical exam within 6 months of start, signed by DO, MD, NP, APRN, or PA
  • Negative QuantiFERON TB test within 6 months (TSPOT and PPD not accepted) or chest X-ray if prior positive
  • Annual fit mask test with approved masks (3M 1860 Regular or Small)
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months (instant tests not accepted)
  • Required vaccinations or proof of immunity:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B
    • Varicella
    • Seasonal Flu vaccination or declination (required during flu season)
  • COVID vaccination preferred (not mandatory)
  • Two professional references from the last 2 years required

Facility-Specific Training & Modules (must be completed online)

  • Clinical and general orientation modules
  • Annual risk management, compliance & ethics, code of conduct, emergency management, workplace harassment prevention
  • Nursing-specific modules (if applicable) such as:
    • Recognizing impairment in the workplace
    • Handling hazardous drugs
    • Stroke and stroke core measures
    • Safe injection practices
    • Blood administration & anticoagulant therapy
    • PPE donning and doffing for COVID-19
  • Additional modules depending on role and specialty

Additional Notes

  • Locals considered, but local rate is lower than travel rate
  • Must be comfortable working independently and managing all aspects of MRI modality
  • Must carry government-issued photo ID during hours of service

This position is ideal for an experienced MRI technologist with strong GE equipment skills, who is self-reliant and ready for a travel contract in Florida.
