Job Opportunity: Nuclear Medicine Technologist (Travel/Contract)
Location: Salem, Oregon
Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology (Nuclear Medicine)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Work Schedule
- 4 days per week, 10-hour shifts
- Shift start times between 6:30 AM and 8:15 AM (varies by shift)
- Rotating weekday schedule (no block scheduling)
- On-call required after department closes until it reopens (approximately 7 on-call days per month)
- On-call shifts are generally not very busy
Position Purpose
Perform Nuclear Medicine procedures in compliance with hospital policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree preferred
- Experience: Minimum 1 year of Nuclear Medicine experience preferred
- Licensure:
- Pending Nuclear Medicine license with Oregon Board of Medical Imaging (OBMI) allowed
- Must be registered in Nuclear Medicine with either the Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification Board (NMTCB) or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) within 6 months of hire
- Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) within 90 days of hire
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required within 6 months of hire
- Must pass Basic Cardiac Monitoring class within 4 months of hire (class offered onsite)
Skills and Competencies
- Ability to operate state-of-the-art Nuclear Medicine gamma cameras, probes, computer systems, film processors, survey meters, and other technical supportive devices
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Criminal background check (7-year search) within 90 days of start
- Education verification (transcript or diploma acceptable)
- Various background screenings including EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG within 30 days of start and ongoing
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Drug testing (10-panel) within 90 days of start
- Immunizations and health screenings including:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine or declination
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity verification or vaccination
- Hepatitis B titer or vaccination series or declination
- Seasonal flu vaccination or declination (year-round requirement)
- Fit mask testing to be completed onsite within the first week of starting
Additional Notes
- References: 2 references within the last 2 years showing 1 year in a comparable specialty; at least one must be supervisory within the last 12 months
- Competency exams and core clinical training required prior to start and updated annually
- Badge photo required at least 8 days prior to start
- Healthstream modules and facility-specific orientation must be completed by designated due dates
