Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Salem, Oregon
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Shift Options:
    • Day shift: 4 x 10-hour shifts (07:00 - 17:30), variable schedule
    • Night shift: 3 x 12-hour shifts (19:00 - 07:30)
    • Weekday scheduled shifts: 12 hours
    • Weekday night call shifts: 8 hours (23:00 - 07:00)
    • Weekend scheduled and call shifts: 12 hours
    • Up to 6 shifts of call and/or weekend scheduled shifts per 6-week schedule

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • First-time travelers are allowed (prior travel experience NOT required)

Certifications & Licenses

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) required (AHA only, RQI acceptable)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) preferred but not required
  • Other certifications may be preferred depending on unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC) but not mandatory for this role

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Valid RN license with NURSYS verification required within 30 days of start
  • Criminal background check within 90 days of start (7-year search)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and ongoing every 30 days
  • Education verification required for non-licensed providers (not applicable for RN)
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start required (can start with physical pending)
  • Drug testing (10-panel) within 90 days of start required
  • Immunizations and health screenings required:
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
    • Tdap vaccine or facility-specific declination
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity or vaccination
    • Hepatitis B titer or vaccination series (booster or declination if low titer)
    • Varicella immunity or vaccination
    • Seasonal flu vaccine or signed declination (year-round requirement)
  • Fit mask testing to be completed onsite within first week of start (not required for some non-clinical roles)

Competencies

  • Telemetry skills required for all RNs regardless of unit
  • Competency exams with passing scores required (e.g., 80% for general competency, 85% for Dysrhythmia/EKG if applicable)

Additional Notes

  • Badge photo required at least 8 days prior to start (white background)
  • Facility-specific dress code and scrub color information applies
  • Healthstream training modules must be completed by the date of hire
  • References: 2 references within last 2 years showing 1 year in comparable specialty; at least one supervisory reference within last 12 months
