Overview

Shift: Day, 3x12 hours, 7:00 AM–7:30 PM
Hours per week: 36
Schedule: Every other weekend required; holidays required as scheduled
Floating: May be required within the specialty, including MS/T units as an extender
Patient population: Adults to geriatrics
Setting: Fast-paced, high-volume ER border care setting for MS/T overflow; excludes critical care

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Maryland
Med Surg / Telemetry (2 years of experience)
Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year
BLS issued by American Heart Association
NIHSS
CPI
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Additional Notes

First-time travelers may be accepted with strong experience
ACLS is preferred
RTO must be submitted at time of offer and cannot include more than 1 major and 1 minor holiday for fall/winter

Pros

IMC Ratio 1:3, traveler friendly (many have renewed for at least a year), decent crew of staff

Cons

Unit is disorganized; you spend much of the day walking back and forth for simple supplies that should be more conveniently located. Huddle time is way too long and frequently leaves you getting out super late by the time report is over. Also the patient population in that area is a little trashy.
