Registered Nurse Job Summary

Location

• Wheeling, West Virginia

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Schedule

• 12-hour night shifts
• Start time: 7:00 PM
• Must be ready to go by 6:45 PM
• Self-scheduling is allowed if unit needs are met

Unit Details

• Intermediate Care Unit
• 30 beds
• Typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5; goal is 1:4
• May occasionally go to 1:6
• May float to Telemetry or MedSurg as needed

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license
• BLS
• ACLS
• NIHSS
• Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips
• Must be able to titrate the following drips: Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Labetalol, Nitro, and Heparin

Clinical Experience / Unit Skills

• Intermediate care experience with patients such as chest pain, rule-out MI, CHF, arrhythmias, post-pacemaker, and pre/post caths
• Must be able to manage radial bands and perform groin checks
• May occasionally care for overflow patients requiring intermediate acuity
• Rarely manages chest tubes
• Manages patients on Tikosyn therapy

Orientation

• First day includes approximately 4 hours with HR and 8 hours on the unit with a preceptor
• Second day is on the unit with a preceptor
• After that, the nurse works independently

Additional Notes

• Weekend shifts are required
• Holiday coverage may be needed
• Nurses must wear navy blue scrubs
• All submissions must include an unexpired driver’s license
• Licensing hits must be disclosed at submission
