Scheduling: Self-scheduling for days and nights (shifts include 9-9, 11-11, 1-1, 3-3)
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
Holiday Requirement: Every other holiday

Unit Information

ER beds/trauma bays: 24 beds, 3 trauma bays
Fast track: Yes
Separate triage area: Yes (travelers occasionally perform triage)
ER holds: No separate holding area; holds are intermixed within ER and managed by ER RNs
Psych/seclusion rooms: None
In-house security: Yes
Patients per day: 80-90
Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4
Common diagnoses: Trauma, Stroke, Sepsis, Congestive Heart Failure (CHF), Cardiac conditions
ED Physicians and Mid-level providers present
Charge Nurse and House Supervisor present
Support staff: Nurse Aids, Paramedics, Patient sitters
RT equipment support: Respiratory therapists handle vents, CPAP, BiPAP, high flow, ABGs, breathing treatments, and EGS
Telemetry: No monitor techs; RNs must interpret ECG rhythms
Imaging: X-Ray and CT located next to ER
Phlebotomy: Performed by techs or RNs
Dress code: Navy scrubs
Unit-specific orientation provided (3 pm - 3 am every other week)

Required Certifications

ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
BLS (Basic Life Support)
TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) or PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)

Requirements/Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
Minimum 1 year of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience within the last year
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Current ACLS certification
Current BLS certification
Current TNCC certification
Current ENPC, PALS, or ENTC certification

This position is ideal for an experienced ER nurse comfortable working in a rural hospital environment with a high patient volume and a variety of acute conditions.
