Location

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Schedule

• 12-hour night shifts
• 36 hours per week
• Every third weekend
• Self-scheduling

Required Qualifications

• Iowa or compact RN license
• BLS certification
• 1 year of unit experience
• Driver’s license required at submittal

Unit Details

• Med Surg / Ortho unit
• 28 beds plus 22 overflow beds
• Typical nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:5
• Charge nurse works each shift and takes an assignment
• Nurse aides/patient care techs are available at a ratio of 1:10
• RNs do not titrate drips
• Common patient types include orthopedic, medical-surgical, respiratory, infectious disease, wound care, and behavioral health-related cases

Floating

• May float to PCU and behavioral health

Orientation

• First week is classroom orientation, followed by one 12-hour shift on the unit

Additional Notes

• Artificial nails are prohibited in patient care areas
• RTO must be submitted upfront; additional RTO will not be approved after submission
• Candidates must live at least 50 miles away
• Candidates cannot be full-time, part-time, or PRN with certain affiliated facilities within the past year
