Tele Float Pool RN

Overview

• Travel contract for a Telemetry RN in California.
• Contract length: 13 weeks.
• Shift: Days, 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week.
• Float pool position based at a regional medical center and required to float to another nearby facility.

Required Qualifications

• Active BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and California RN license.
• 2 full years of experience.
• Experience with drips.

Preferred Qualifications

• Travel experience.
• Experience with chest tubes.

Unit Details

• Primary unit: 2North - Telemetry.
• 31 beds.
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4.
• Charge nurse present and does not take a patient assignment.
• Nurse aides typically available.
• Monitor tech present; nurses read strips and sign off.
• Common patient population includes pneumonia, end stage renal disease, post cath lab patients, respiratory distress, CHF, and COPD.
• High-acuity patient population.

Floating

• Floats to 3North, 2 South, and another facility to work tele or medsurg.
• May also float to the ER to take MS/Tele holds.
• Orientation includes the home unit plus other units and the other facility.

Schedule and Unit Expectations

• Weekend requirement: 4 weekend shifts in a 4-week schedule.
• One major and one minor holiday required.
• 12-hour shifts with no block scheduling.
• Navy scrubs.

Clinical Notes

• Drips used include amiodarone, cardizem, and heparin; these are non-titrating.
• No vents on the primary unit, but patients may have bipap or cpap.
• RT and Pharmacy are available 24/7.
• Hospitalist is on call after hours.
