Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Adult Chemical Dependency Unit

Location: Lewiston, Maine
Employment Type: Contract (13 weeks)

Job Description

• Provide direct and indirect patient care on the Adult Chemical Dependency Unit (patients ages 15 and older).
• Conduct thorough admission interviews and systematic physical assessments.
• Assess needs for services from other healthcare professionals to facilitate patient care.
• Develop, implement, and revise appropriate patient care plans.
• Document patient conditions, care given, and patient responses.
• Perform patient education and facilitate group sessions.
• Float to Inpatient Adult Behavioral Health and Detox units as needed.

Patient Population & Diagnoses

• Patients with physiological dependency on alcohol, opiates, benzodiazepines, barbiturates, and/or other drugs.
• Many patients have associated psychiatric diagnoses such as depression, psychosis, and bipolar disorder.

Requirements

• Specialty: Nursing with Behavioral Health experience.
• Years of Experience: Minimum 3 years (based on certification and experience requirements).
• Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) certification required.
• Must be trained and competent in:

  • Application of restraints.
  • Implementation of seclusion.
  • Monitoring and care of patients in restraint or seclusion.
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility.
• Not eligible if previously employed at this facility.
• Candidates with licensure or background issues will not be considered.

Additional Information

• Up to 16 hours of orientation is unpaid.
• The facility may cancel up to 3 shifts during the 13-week contract.
