Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Adult Chemical Dependency Unit
Location: Lewiston, Maine
Employment Type: Contract (13 weeks)
Job Description
- Provide direct and indirect patient care on the Adult Chemical Dependency Unit (patients ages 15 and older).
- Conduct thorough admission interviews and systematic physical assessments.
- Assess needs for services from other healthcare professionals to facilitate patient care.
- Develop, implement, and revise appropriate patient care plans.
- Document patient conditions, care given, and patient responses.
- Perform patient education and facilitate group sessions.
- Float to Inpatient Adult Behavioral Health and Detox units as needed.
Patient Population & Diagnoses
- Patients with physiological dependency on alcohol, opiates, benzodiazepines, barbiturates, and/or other drugs.
- Many patients have associated psychiatric diagnoses such as depression, psychosis, and bipolar disorder.
Requirements
- Specialty: Nursing with Behavioral Health experience.
- Years of Experience: Minimum 3 years (based on certification and experience requirements).
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) certification required.
- Must be trained and competent in:
- Application of restraints.
- Implementation of seclusion.
- Monitoring and care of patients in restraint or seclusion.
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility.
- Not eligible if previously employed at this facility.
- Candidates with licensure or background issues will not be considered.
Additional Information
- Up to 16 hours of orientation is unpaid.
- The facility may cancel up to 3 shifts during the 13-week contract.
