• Varied day shifts (6:00 AM – 6:30 PM)
• Every 6th weekend required
• 36 hours per week

Job Description

• Provide direct patient care under limited supervision
• Plan, direct, and evaluate total nursing care for Medical-Surgical patients
• Maintain continuity of care by effective communication across shifts and departments
• Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate courtesy and cooperation with coworkers, patients, and visitors
• Deliver nursing care by planning, organizing, and directing nursing functions on the unit
• Remain calm and resourceful in emergencies
• Communicate patient needs and unit issues to physicians, nurses, and staff
• Use data to prioritize patient physical, psychological, educational, and discharge needs in care planning
• Identify problems and guide personnel toward solutions
• Foster a positive work environment that supports coworker growth and job satisfaction
• Administer medications and intravenous solutions accurately and skillfully
• Maintain accurate and complete documentation and reporting
• Ensure availability of necessary supplies and equipment
• Implement physician orders and nursing care plans safely using professional judgment
• Evaluate patient and family responses to care plans and adjust as needed
• Prioritize workload effectively
• Support and enforce infection control policies
• Participate in orientation and ongoing training
• Maintain professional patient confidentiality
• Observe and support hospital policies and procedures
• Work independently with limited supervision, adhering to Nurse Practice Act and nursing standards
• Attend required meetings and in-services
• Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Iowa
• Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Acute care nursing experience
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
