RN - Surgery

Location: San Marcos, Texas Employment Type: Travel Contract Length: 13 weeks Work Type: Full time

Schedule

• 5 days per week, 8 hours per day
• Call: one weekend per month, approximately 7 days per month

Responsibilities

• Practices independently and demonstrates awareness of all relevant aspects of a situation
• Provides routine and complex nursing care, with the ability to work toward long-range goals or plans
• Continues to develop the ability to cope with and manage contingencies of clinical nursing
• Makes appropriate assignments and delegates to other care providers to help manage the clinical situation
• Provides nursing care using the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation) consistent with ANA Scope and Standards of Practice
• Addresses increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families
• Administers medications and treatments using the appropriate protocol, and monitors for side effects and effectiveness
• Documents patient history, symptoms, medication, and care given
• Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, family members, and/or caregivers

Requirements

• Valid RN license in Texas
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Med Surg experience of 1 year, completed within the last year
• Operating Room (OR) experience
