Role: Pharmacist (Pharmacy specialty)
Employment Type: Travel contract
Contract Length: 16 weeks
Location: Full hospital pharmacy department
Shift: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, with on-call responsibilities after hours for emergencies
Weekly Hours: 40 guaranteed
Call Requirements: Yes, unless delegated to another pharmacist
Patient Population: Rehabilitation, geriatric, adult

Valid Pharmacist license in Virginia
Minimum 2 years of pharmacist experience, including experience within the last year
Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (BS Pharmacy) or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree

Accurately verify and dispense medication orders; oversee and approve pharmacy technician work
Participate in medication reconciliation and document clinical interventions per policy
Provide clinical pharmacy services including anticoagulant monitoring, therapy optimization, and evidence-based drug utilization protocols
Support purchasing and inventory management to ensure safe, cost-effective medication use; complete medication inventories as required
Perform daily audits for medication use and environmental monitoring
Collaborate with physicians and clinical staff on quality and performance improvement initiatives
Educate medical staff and nurses with timely, accurate drug information
Maintain positive relationships with medical staff, administration, and patients
Comply with all applicable regulatory and accreditation standards (e.g., JC, CIHQ, CMS, DEA, State Board of Pharmacy)
Perform other duties as assigned
Function independently with potential remote support

No float requirements
This position requires on-call availability and returning to the pharmacy for emergencies outside scheduled hours
