Physical Therapist Travel Job – Salt Lake City, Utah
Position Overview
- Job Title: Physical Therapist
- Employment Type: Travel
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Unit: Occupational Therapy / Rehab Services – Acute Care (PT)
- Shift Length: 10-hour shifts (start times between 7:00 AM and 8:30 AM)
- Schedule Details:
- Two full-time positions available
- Rotating mid (9:30 AM–8:00 PM) and late (10:30 AM–9:00 PM) ortho shifts required
- Example schedules:
- Week 1: Sunday–Wednesday; Week 2: Sunday–Tuesday (mid/late ortho shifts on Monday and Tuesday)
- Week 1: Wednesday–Friday; Week 2: Wednesday–Saturday (rotating late/mid shifts)
- Floating: May be cross-trained to support the acute rehab unit and OT team on busy or low-staffed days
Facility & Unit Information
- Facility Size: 325 beds
- Patient Load: 9–14 patients assigned per day
- Staffing: 23 PT/PTA staff members (13 full-time/part-time)
- Equipment Available:
- Sara Stedys
- Mechanical Stryker stroke/cardiac chairs
- Powered bariatric stroke/cardiac chairs
- Powered ARJO and Liko lifts
- ARJO mobility devices, walkers, canes, wheelchairs, sliding boards
- Adaptive equipment for dressing and bathing
- Documentation System: EPIC
- Team Environment: Close-knit, supportive therapy team with collaboration among OT/PT/ST disciplines and good relationships with nursing and physicians
Required Qualifications
- Valid Physical Therapist license in Utah
- MSPT or DPT degree
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Physical Therapist
- Physical Therapist experience within the last year
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- Hepatitis B vaccination
- MMR vaccination
- TDAP Vaccine / TD Booster
- Varicella vaccination
- Previous use and knowledge of mobility devices and lift systems
- Understanding of orthotic use and application
- Understanding of hip, spine, and cardiac precautions
Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of neuro, multi-trauma, and medically complex diagnoses
- Ability to perform thorough chart reviews, including lab values and weight-bearing precautions
- Proficient in use of mobility devices and lift systems
- Knowledge of back braces, UE/LE positioning devices, hip/spine/cardiac precautions
- Clinical reasoning and problem-solving skills to advance patients through continuum of care
- Effective communication, time management, and teamwork skills
- Ability to complete thorough documentation

- Neuro re-education
- Gait training
- Balance and wheelchair training
- Cognitive and vestibular re-education
- Energy conservation techniques
- BUE/BLE range of motion and strengthening
- Orthotic use and fitting
- Home safety and family training
Unit Policies & Guidelines
- Evaluations must be seen or acknowledged within 24 hours of being ordered
- Follow Rehab Priority Patient List and Stroke Protocol (provided on first day)
- Prepare total joint/TAVR → SDS patients for discharge to home, often seen on day of surgery
- When work is completed, assist other OTs or department tasks (equipment redistribution, gym cleaning) or clock out
- Check in with RN before and after every patient interaction for appropriateness of services and patient updates
- Staff must wear badges while on duty
- Staff working more than 6 hours must take a 30-minute lunch break
Dress Code
- Gray scrub top and black scrub pants with closed-toed shoes
- Alternatively, gray business casual shirt and black pants
- No shirts with logos, jeans, leggings, or shorts allowed
