Registered Nurse – Emergency Department

Location: Farmington, New Mexico
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Overview

• Work in a Level III Trauma Center Emergency Department with 48 beds (including flex space)
• Patient ratios: 4:1 in Main ED, 6:1 in Fast Track
• Shift: 7 PM – 7 AM
• Weekly guaranteed hours: 36
• Minimum of two weekends scheduled per contract
• No call requirements
• Team nursing and Pod System model
• Social worker assigned to the department
• Unit educator available
• Electronic Health Record system: Cerner

Patient Population & Common Diagnoses

• Patients with End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD), Cirrhosis, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), Congestive Heart Failure (CHF), psychiatric and substance abuse disorders
• Common presenting complaints: Stroke, STEMI, Sepsis, Moderate Sedation cases, Abdominal Pain, Chest Pain

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in New Mexico
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Certifications (must be from American Heart Association):

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
• Experience managing patients with trauma, stroke, STEMI, sepsis, moderate sedation
• Sepsis Coordinator experience

Skills & Experience

• Must have experience managing trauma, stroke, STEMI, sepsis, and moderate sedation patients
• Preferred: 2 years of Emergency Department experience

Equipment & Technology

• Zoll Defibrillator
• Level One Blood Transfuser
• QinFlow Blood Warmer
• Hospira Plum360 infusion pump
• Freestyle and iSTAT point-of-care testing devices
• Ultrasound-guided IV insertion

Additional Information

• Candidates must be able to start within 10 business days of offer acceptance to qualify for rapid placement
• No float requirements
• One opening available in the Emergency Department
