Registered Nurse - Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU)

Location: Tuscaloosa, Alabama
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Description

• 8-bed high acuity Cardiac Intensive Care Unit providing complex monitoring and treatment of adult cardiac patients
• Receives patients from Cath Lab, Emergency Department, and Acute Care areas requiring specialized cardiac care
• Collaborative multidisciplinary care team focused on optimal patient outcomes and patient comfort in a safe environment

Work Schedule & Environment

• 36 or 48 hours per week available (36 hours guaranteed)
• Every other weekend required
• Holidays as required
• Must be willing to float to other units and hospitals
• Solid navy scrub dress code
• Patient-facing role
• On-site position (not remote)
• Electronic Medical Record system: Meditech
• Parking available

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Alabama
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum 2 years of Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) experience, with at least 1 year of recent CVICU experience within the last year
• Certifications:

  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by American Heart Association or Red Cross
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) or Red Cross equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

• PALS certification if working in pediatric unit (not required for this adult CICU role)

Additional Notes

• Timesheet approver role (primary and backup) may be assigned
• Must demonstrate high professional competency and ability to collaborate effectively with the care team
