Position Details

Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN)
Location: Kansas City, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel
Unit: 6 East Ortho/Trauma
Unit Beds: 23
Patient Ratios: 1:4, 1:5
Scheduling: 3 twelve-hour shifts per schedule period, including 3 weekend shifts
Floating Policy: Contract labor floats first; may float to other MedSurg units (General MS, Nephrology, Neuro/Trauma)
Documentation System: Meditech
Dress Code: Navy scrubs required

Unit & Patient Care

Unit Focus: Orthopedics and Trauma
Equipment: Traction, fixators, cooling equipment
Procedures: Post-op knee, hip, and shoulder replacements; trauma patients; some neuro overflow cases
Patient Experience: Bedside shift report and hourly rounding required

Required Certifications & Licenses

Registered Nurse License (RN)
Basic Life Support (BLS)

Experience Requirements

Minimum 2 years of experience in nursing specialty (Orthopedics/Trauma)
Advanced skills preferred: Orthopedic experience, telemetry, NIH stroke scale knowledge

Hospital Certifications

Level 1 Trauma Center
Comprehensive Stroke Center

Contract Length

13 weeks
