Job Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN) - Pre Op (Surgery)
- Shift: 4x10 hour shifts, Monday to Friday (8:00 AM - 6:30 PM), one day off (not fixed)
- Weekly Hours: 36 guaranteed
- Call Requirements: No call required for this position
- Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 4-5 patients
- Patient Population: Diverse, all ages
- Electronic Health Record (EHR) System: Cerner
Unit Information
- Department: Pre Op
- Trauma Level: Level III trauma center
- Facility Size: 198 beds
- Typical Services: Medical, surgical, rehabilitation, childbirth center, cancer center, nephrology, pediatrics, inpatient behavioral health, day surgery, imaging, and lab testing
- Environment: Located in a scenic area with outdoor recreational opportunities
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in New Mexico
- Minimum 1 year of Operating Room (OR) experience within the last year
- Pre-Op nursing experience
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
Additional Notes
- No float requirements
- No weekend hours specified
- Must have skills/experience in ACLS and BLS
- Patient care involves a variety of diagnoses and treatments typical to a surgical preoperative unit

Pros
Unit is comprised of many travelers. Core staff and travelers have all been fantastic! The unit is set up quite well to manage the surges of patients. It is the only main hospital around so it can definitely provide good experience. Most of the providers I've encountered over the last couple months actually listen to the nurses and are easy to work with.
Cons
It is definitely busy before the size of the town. I can't say I have any other cons.
