Experience & Licensure Requirements

• Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years in a hospital setting
• Licenses: Active Compact Registered Nurse License at submission
• Certifications: BLS required, IV certification required

Unit Information

• Unit: 3rd Medical (Shoals Building)
• Number of Beds: 36
• Patient Ratios: Typically 1:6, occasionally 1:7 during surge
• Staffing: Unit Secretary (day shift only), Licensed Nursing Assistants (both shifts)
• Equipment: Telemetry
• Documentation System: Meditech Expanse
• Scheduling: 3 shifts of 12 hours each, every other weekend, rotating holidays
• Floating Policy: Float to same level of care

Skills & Procedures

• Requested Skill Set: Med-Surg experience required
• Advanced Skills: IV certification mandatory
• Procedures Performed on Unit:

  • Continuous Bladder Irrigation (CBI)
  • Wound care
  • Drain management (chest tubes, Jackson Pratt, etc.)
  • Foley catheter insertion
  • Central line dressing changes
  • Telemetry monitoring
  • EKGs as needed

Work Environment & Additional Information

• Patient Experience Requirements: Bedside shift report, hourly safety rounding, personal connections
• Dress Code: Scrubs (any color)
• Scheduling Flexibility: Self-scheduling available; leadership may adjust to balance schedule
• Additional Notes: Unit uses new equipment and technology; experienced staff; supportive team environment
