Contract Length: 13 weeks


Facility Overview

  • Level III trauma center with 198 beds
  • Services: Medical, surgical, rehabilitation, childbirth center, cancer center, nephrology, pediatrics, inpatient behavioral health, day surgery, imaging, and lab testing
  • Regional healthcare provider for Four Corners region (NM, AZ, CO, UT)
  • Not a teaching hospital; no resident physicians
  • Community hospital setting with a regional mission

Position Details

  • Specialty: Labor & Delivery, Level 2 Special Care Nursery (SCN), and Postpartum
  • Role: Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Shift: Nights (7 PM – 7 AM)
  • Weekly Hours: 36 guaranteed
  • Weekend Hours: Varies
  • Call Requirements: None
  • Unit Beds: 17 beds with 2 triage rooms
  • Patient Population: Adults and newborns
  • Patient Volume: Approximately 75 deliveries per month
  • Patient Ratios: According to AWHONN standards
  • EHR Systems: Cerner and Fetalink
  • Equipment: Fetal monitors, ISTAT, Freestyle

Required Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum 2+ years in Labor & Delivery specialty
  • Charge Nurse Experience: Required
  • Certifications:
    • BLS (American Heart Association)
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program, AHA)
    • ACLS (American Heart Association)
    • AWHONN (must be renewed every 2 years)
  • Education: ADN or BSN
  • Skills:
    • Labor & delivery experience for labor positions
    • Postpartum couplet care experience
    • Nursery experience in a Level 2 nursery or higher acuity for SCN positions
    • Fetal monitoring and stabilization of neonates
    • Ability to troubleshoot high acuity situations and perform triage assessments
  • Clinical Duties:
    • Cervical exams
    • Infant delivery assistance (with on-call physician)
    • Perform duties consistent with standard of care and industry standards with minimal supervision
