Registered Nurse – Medical-Surgical Telemetry
Location: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Employment Type: Long Term
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (Sunday night through Thursday night) or Day (Monday through Friday), 12-hour shifts; scheduling may include weekdays and/or weeknights based on coverage needs.
Job Overview
- Provide inpatient-level nursing care to admitted patients boarding in the Emergency Department while awaiting transfer to an inpatient bed.
- Support patient safety, throughput, and continuity of care during periods of high hospital census.
- Care for up to 4 patients per nurse (4:1 ratio), including telemetry monitoring, IV medications, post-procedural care, and general inpatient medical-surgical needs.
- Assignments remain within the ED boarder care model; no regular ED patient assignments.
- May be required to float temporarily to other units within clinical competency and skill set if organizational needs change.
Work Environment
- Fast-paced Emergency Department setting.
- Collaboration with ED physicians, hospitalists, ICU teams, and inpatient services.
- Support staff available according to ED resources.
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Recent inpatient medical-surgical nursing experience.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
