Registered Nurse - Progressive Care Unit (PCU)

Location: Louisville, Kentucky

Job Summary

A Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for the care of a group of patients in the Progressive Care Unit. The RN provides safe, effective, patient- and family-centered care, focusing on quality outcomes and customer satisfaction. Responsibilities include assessing, developing, implementing, and evaluating patient care plans, supervising licensed and non-licensed staff, and mentoring/precepting team members. The RN applies evidence-based practice and participates in quality and safety improvement efforts within a Practice Governance framework.

Key Responsibilities

Perform patient assessments and reassessments, making sound independent decisions.
Develop, prioritize, and implement individualized plans of care in collaboration with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
Monitor and document patient responses to clinical interventions.
Provide and evaluate education tailored to patient and family needs during the stay and at discharge.
Delegate tasks to licensed and non-licensed personnel; serve as a mentor and preceptor.
Promote teamwork and communicate opportunities for improvement.
Participate in quality, safety, and service process improvements and comply with regulatory standards.

Required Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Kentucky
Minimum 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience, including experience within the last year
Experience in an inpatient setting
Acute care nursing experience
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing
Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification
Experience with Epic electronic health record system
