Job Opportunity: MS/ TELE RN (Travel)

Location: Harlan, Kentucky
Contract Length: 12 weeks

Job Summary

Seeking a Registered Nurse with Telemetry experience (MS/ TELE RN) for a travel assignment. The role requires floating to other units if census is low. Schedule is 36 hours on, 48 hours off over a two-week pay period. Orientation occurs bi-weekly. Candidates must reside within 100 miles of the facility to be considered.

Required Experience

• Minimum 2+ years of current Medical-Surgical/Telemetry nursing experience.
• Higher years of experience requirement applies if discrepancies exist (in this case, 2+ years).

Required Licenses & Certifications

• Current Kentucky RN license or compact license valid in Kentucky.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification.
• NIH Stroke Scale certification (required for RN specialties except OR and Psych).

Required Skills & Knowledge

• Experience with Meditech EMR system.
• Ability and willingness to float to other units as needed.

Prior Travel Experience

• No explicit prior travel experience required.

Health & Immunization Requirements

• COVID-19 vaccination proof or approved religious/medical exemption.
• Proof of 2 MMR vaccinations or positive titer; if starting series, first dose required at start.
• Proof of 2 Varicella vaccinations or positive titer; if starting series, first dose required at start.
• Hepatitis B vaccination series or declination accepted.
• Tdap vaccination valid within 10 years or declination accepted.
• Annual physical or health statement signed by MD, DO, PA, or NP stating clear to work without restrictions.
• Influenza vaccine (seasonal, October-March) or approved exemption.
• TB Quantiferon blood test within one year prior to start.
• Fit test for N95 respirators (optional, but recommended).
• If positive TB record, proof of chest X-ray within last 5 years with TB questionnaire.

Background & Compliance Requirements

• Background check within 30 days prior to start, including 7-year county, nationwide criminal, SSN trace, sex offender registry, SAM, OIG checks. Annual updates required.
• Drug screen within 30 days prior to start (excluding marijuana/THC). Annual updates required.
• Verification of education and employment (7 years relevant experience required for employment verification).
• Social Security trace, driving record, and other compliance checks as applicable.
• Vulnerable Adult Maltreatment Registry verification within 30 days prior to start (Kentucky).
• Submission of a complete packet including cover sheet, resume, skills checklist, license/certification verification in one PDF.
• Assignment confirmation form must be submitted within 24 hours of offer acceptance.

Competency & Skills Validation

• Unit-specific skills checklist within one year prior to start.
• Competency exam within one year prior to start (actual documents required, no certificates).
• EKG and Telemetry exam within one year prior to start.
• Core competencies including HIPAA, patient rights, safety, infection control, elder abuse, cultural diversity, advance directives, etc., updated annually.

References

• Two professional references required: one charge nurse or higher, and one supervisor reference within the last year.

• Floating to other units is required if census is low.
• Start date is immediate upon acceptance.
• Candidates must only be submitted to one job at a time.
