Job Opportunity: Central Sterile Technician (Travel/Contract)
Location: Aurora, Colorado
Specialty: Surgical Services - Central Sterile Technician
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Shift: Monday to Friday, 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- Weekend Requirement: No
- On-call: No
- First-timers Accepted: Yes
- Trauma Level: Level 1 trauma facility experience required
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 3 years total experience as a certified sterile processing technician
- At least 2 years experience at a Level 1 trauma facility (1.5 years trauma experience may be considered if total experience is 3 years)
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required
Certifications Required
- National certification: CRCST OR CBSPD, and CER or CFER
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from AHA required
- Must have Endoscopy/C.F.E.R (CBSPD) or CER (HSPA) certification
Special Requirements
- Must have 2 years of experience as a certified sterile processing technician at a Level 1 trauma facility
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- I9 or Attestation
- Driver’s License/State ID (clear copies front/back)
- E-Verify or Attestation
- Proof of Name Change (if applicable)
- Background Checks including:
- 7-year background check within 60 days of start
- SSN Trace, State and Federal checks (Colorado CBI, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG)
- Education verification (3rd party or transcript/diploma)
- Employment history verification for last 3 years with explanations for gaps >30 days
- References: 2 references from last 2 years, including one from last year, from Charge RN, Manager, Supervisor, or above
- Skills checklist annually
Health and Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, DO, NP, or PA
- Fit mask test within 12 months of start, updated annually (specific mask types required)
- Immunizations and titers:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or signed declination)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines, boosters if needed
- Hepatitis B: Positive titer, vaccine series, or declination
- Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines, boosters if needed
- Drug testing within 30 days of start, updated annually
- Seasonal flu vaccination or facility-specific exemption during flu season
- COVID vaccine documentation or signed declination
Competency Exams (Required within 1 year of start and updated annually)
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam
- Competency Exam (minimum 80% score)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (for ICU and related units)
- Core Part I, II, III (minimum 80% score)
- OSHA Mandatory Training (minimum 80% score)
- Color Blind Testing: Ishihara exam required prior to start (online testing not accepted)
Additional Notes
- Time off (RTO) is limited to 10 days maximum and is not allowed during certain holiday periods (e.g., Dec 21, 2025 – Jan 3, 2026)
- Flexibility may be considered for harder-to-fill positions
