Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Emergency Room (Adult)

Location: Rochester, New York
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 8 weeks

Position Details

Shift Hours: 7 PM - 7 AM
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
Holiday Requirement: Must be available to work every other holiday, if needed
Charting System: EPIC experience required
Floating: Required to float within skillset
Locals: RNs within 75 miles are not accepted (locals accepted for LPNs)
First-Time Travelers: Accepted

Licenses & Certifications Required

Active New York Single State RN license (NY is not Compact)
BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
NIH Stroke Certification (as required by unit)
PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM certifications as required by unit description
State License Verification and NURSYS Verification within 30 days of start

Required Clinical Skills

IV therapy including blood product administration, central line care, phlebotomy, starting/maintaining IVs, IV vasopressors
CPAP/BiPAP and ventilator management
Care for CVA (stroke), neuro-trauma, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury (TBI)
Cardiac monitoring and management of dysrhythmias
Emergency care including adult/pediatric ED, gunshot wounds, orthopedic trauma
Isolation precautions, triage, pediatric spinal cord injury

Unit Details

Patient Ratios: 1:5 (Adults, Geriatrics)
Patient Types: All emergency diagnoses
Special Equipment: Bair hugger, rapid infuser, safe patient handling equipment
Scrub Color: Navy blue and white combinations

Experience Requirements

Specialty: Registered Nurse (ER)
Required Years of Experience: Not explicitly stated; assume minimum 2 years typical for ER travel RN roles
Prior Travel Experience: Not required (first-time travelers accepted)

Health & Compliance Requirements

Candidates must complete health-related requirements and lab work within 5 days of signing the contract, including but not limited to:

Physical exam (within 1 year)
Fit mask test (annual)
Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 1 year)
Immunizations or titers for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
Drug screening (within 30 days of start)
Flu vaccination or signed declination during flu season
Eye exam (Snellen) within 1 year
COVID vaccination copy preferred but not required

Background & Verification

7-year criminal background check (including felony checks) within 3 months of start
EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 3 months of start and monthly thereafter
Education verification from primary source required
Work history verification (at least 2 past employments for direct candidates)
References required for direct candidates (2 references within 3 years)

Candidates must submit any time-off or special scheduling requests upon application
The client may cancel up to three shifts during the 13-week contract without penalty
