Job Opportunity: Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN)

Location: La Plata, Maryland
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks (accepting up to 26 weeks)

Job Details

• Specialty: Registered Nurse (ER)
• Shift: Days, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (07:00 - 19:30)
• Schedule: Every other weekend required; holidays as scheduled
• Floating: Required within the specialty
• On-Call: No pre-scheduled on-call requirements
• Patient Population: All ages (infant to geriatric)
• Patient Diagnoses: All diagnoses in a fast-paced, complex Emergency Department setting
• Average Daily Census: 130 patients
• Number of Beds: 47
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:4

Required Qualifications and Compliance

• Valid RN license in Maryland
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year
• ACLS issued by American Heart Association
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• PALS issued by American Heart Association
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Experience working with infant patients
• Experience working with geriatric patients

Required Experience

• Minimum 2 years of ER nursing experience preferred (will consider 1 year with strong ER skills)
• Prior travel experience is NOT required; first-time travelers with strong ER experience are welcome

Required Licenses and Certifications

• Maryland RN license
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• NIH Stroke Certification
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute)

Required Qualifications and Compliance

• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility guidelines
• Negative drug screen (9 or 10 panel depending on facility) within 30-45 days prior to start
• Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption for the 2025-26 season
• Fit test for N95 respirator within 1 year of start
• Background checks including 7-year criminal history, education verification, and state-specific exclusions
• Two supervisory references within 1 year of start
• Employment history verification for the past 5 years
• Completion of facility-specific documents such as confidentiality agreements and compliance forms prior to start

• Floating within the specialty is required
• No pre-scheduled on-call duties
