Job Summary

Seeking a Registered Nurse with at least 3 years of experience for a day shift (4x10 hours, 11:00 AM - 9:30 PM) in the Operating Room. This role requires diverse surgical experience across multiple specialties including ortho-total joint and trauma, neuro, gynecology/urology, vascular, and thoracic procedures.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York
• Minimum 3 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year
• Completion of at least one travel assignment
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Experience in multiple surgical specialties including:

  • Orthopedic Trauma
  • Neurology
  • Obstetrics/Gynecology (OB/GYN)
  • Urology
  • Vascular Surgery
  • Thoracic Surgery

Work Environment

• Operating Room with diverse surgical specialties
• Day shift, 4 days per week, 10 hours per day (40 hours/week)
• Minimal Return to Origin (RTO) restrictions

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
• 7-year criminal background check including felony, SSN trace, national sex offender, education verification, and eligibility to work in the U.S.
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 3 months of start, with monthly updates
• Foreign education equivalency evaluation if applicable
• Education verification from primary source (no hard copies accepted)
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
• Fit mask test within 1 year, updated annually
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, with TB questionnaire as applicable
• Immunizations or proof of immunity for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B
  • Varicella
• Drug screening within 30 days of start
• Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination during flu season
• Snellen eye exam within 1 year
• COVID vaccination copy preferred but not required
• Facility-specific documents including photo for badge and pre-employment compliance attestations
• References: 2 references within 3 years required (for agency direct hires)
• Employment application and work history verification

Additional Notes

• Facility does not accept pending licenses
• NIH Stroke Certification required for all RNs except those working in birthing units and OR
• Color blindness testing required once (not annually)
• Competency exams and medication/pharmacology tests as required by specialty
• Fingerprinting and additional background checks may be required for certain units (e.g., mental health, behavioral health, long-term care)

This position offers an opportunity to work in a high-acuity, multi-specialty operating room environment requiring advanced surgical nursing skills and certifications. Prior travel experience and a strong surgical background are essential.
