Job Opportunity: PCU Float Registered Nurse

Location: Wichita Falls, Texas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Support Progressive Care Unit (PCU) and float to overflow areas including Emergency Department (for holds)
• Start date preferred within the next 3-5 weeks
• Scheduled for 84 hours biweekly with a 72-hour guarantee
• Must be agreeable to alternating 36/48 hour shifts
• Shift options: Day shifts, either 3x12 hours (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM) or 4x12 hours (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM)

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
• Minimum 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
• Background check within 1 year, including SS trace, county searches for last 7 years, nationwide, and sex offender registry
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
• Physical exam within 1 year of start (must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing)
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (2-step PPD or equivalent)
• Immunizations/vaccinations required (must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing):

  • Rubeola (Measles): 2 vaccines or positive titer (exempt if born before 1957)
  • Mumps: 2 vaccines or positive titer (exempt if born before 1957)
  • Rubella: 2 vaccines or positive titer (exempt if born before 1957)
  • Hepatitis B: Positive titer, series of 3, or declination
  • Varicella: 2 vaccines, positive titer, or history of chickenpox
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within 10 years
• Seasonal flu vaccine required during flu season (10/1 - 5/31) or facility-specific medical/religious exemption
• COVID-19 vaccination documentation required
• Negative 9-panel drug screen within 1 year (instant acceptable)
• References: 2 references within 3 years of start
• Resume or employment application copy required
• Annual updates required for skills checklist and orientation safety manual acknowledgment

Additional Notes

• Candidates must be willing to complete facility-specific documents and acknowledgments prior to start
• Competency exams and medication/pharmacology competency tests required as applicable
• Some certifications such as PALS, NRP, CHEMO, TNCC, EFM, ENPC, NIH Stroke Certification may be required as applicable (refer to job details)

This position is ideal for experienced Registered Nurses with prior travel experience who are flexible with shift scheduling and able to meet comprehensive compliance and immunization requirements.
