Job Opportunity: House Supervisor (Registered Nurse)

Location: Hood River, Oregon
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Position floats between units based on needs.
  • Shifts: Day (3x12 hours, 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM) and Night (3x12 hours, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM).
  • Weekend work required; weekdays variable.
  • No on-call requirement.
  • No block schedules or fixed nurse-to-patient ratios.
  • Must have a vehicle for assignment.
  • Common to float to other units and facilities within reasonable distance.
  • Facility type: Critical Access / Level III Trauma Center.
  • Total staffed beds: 25.
  • Teaching hospital.
  • Charting system: Epic.
  • Free parking.
  • Scrubs provided for OR, Critical Care, ED, and Maternal Child units; any color scrubs allowed elsewhere.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Oregon.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • Minimum of 1 year of House Supervisor experience, with such experience within the last year.
  • Experience in supervisory roles.
  • Emergency Department (ED) experience.
  • Intensive Care Unit (ICU) experience.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association or Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation.
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification.

Health and Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO.
  • Immunizations and screenings required:
    • TDAP vaccine within 10 years (declination accepted).
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (annual updates required).
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer.
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination.
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer.
    • Seasonal flu vaccine during flu season (declination accepted).
    • COVID-19 vaccination record preferred; declinations accepted with adherence to masking policies.
  • 9-panel drug screen within 12 months of start.
  • Respiratory safety clearance required annually for respirator use.
  • Fit mask test required for travel assignments (updated annually).

Background and Compliance

  • Background check within 90 days of start covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years.
  • Education verification required for nursing degree.
  • State-specific searches and attestations as applicable.
  • Annual regulatory and specialty-specific training modules required.
  • Photo for badge required (passport style with neutral background).

Additional Information

  • Floating policy acknowledgment required; may float to other facilities within reasonable distance.
  • No 48-hour shifts approved.
  • No nurse-to-patient ratios enforced.
  • Epic training modules required and must be completed within orientation timeframe.
  • Medication and competency exams required as applicable.
  • Skills checklist must be updated annually.
  • References and work history verification required to meet compliance standards.
