Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Tyler, Texas
Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (6:00 PM – 6:00 AM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse – Labor and Delivery
  • Required Experience: Minimum 2 years in specialty
  • Prior Travel Experience: Required
  • Charting System: Epic

Required Certifications

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • AWHONN Certifications (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced)

Additional certifications such as PALS, CHEMO, TNCC, CPI, NIH Stroke Certification, and Management of Assaultive Behavior may be required as applicable.


Licensure

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Texas
  • Primary source online verification required (e.g., NURSYS)

Health and Compliance Requirements

  • Physical exam within 12 months of start
  • Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually
  • Adult TDAP vaccine within 10 years (no declinations except approved medical exemptions)
  • Negative TB test (2-step PPD, QGOLD, or TSPOT) within 1 year; if positive, additional documentation required
  • Immunization or positive titer documentation for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (or declination accepted)
    • Varicella (or documented history of chickenpox)
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31)

Background and Documentation

  • 7-year background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
  • Employment and education verification, including highest level of education
  • Work history verification for the past 7 years
  • E-Verify compliance required
  • Clear headshot photo for badge
  • Complete application/resume required
  • Unit-specific skills checklist required annually

Additional Notes

  • Candidates residing in certain Texas counties (including Henderson, Anderson, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Smith, Gregg, Van Zandt, Wood, Upshur, Camp, Hopkins, Franklin, Titus, and Morris) are not eligible for this travel assignment.
  • Fingerprinting and additional onboarding requirements may apply depending on location.
  • Orientation and training may be required prior to starting assignment.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
  • Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience
  • Labor and Delivery experience within the last year
  • Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
  • ACLS certification
  • AWHONN Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced certifications
  • BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • NRP certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
