Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Massena, New York
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Shift: Day shift, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM (4 shifts per week, 12 hours each)
• Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend (EOW)
• Patient Diagnoses: COPD, Pneumonia, Non-specific abdominal pain, Cellulitis, Chest pain rule out
• Unit: Medical-Surgical/Telemetry (MS/Tele)
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratios:

  • Days: 1:6
  • Nights: 1:7
  • Weekends: 1:8
• Locals Accepted: Must live more than 50 miles away
• First Time Travelers: Not accepted

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in New York
• Minimum 2 years of Med Surg / Telemetry nursing experience, with at least some experience within the last year
• Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• ACLS certification
• PALS certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Experience with Epic Electronic Health Record system

Health and Compliance Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
• 7-year criminal background check including all aliases and multiple registry checks (must be completed within 30 days of start)
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
• Education verification for nursing degree
• Annual harassment prevention training (New York state requirement)
• Physical exam, fit mask test, and required immunizations/vaccinations (including Tdap, TB testing, Hepatitis B, MMR, Varicella) current and valid at start
• Drug screening within 30 days of start (specific panel required)
• Snellen eye exam within 1 year of contract start
• Competency exams as required by specialty, including dysrhythmia/EKG competency
• Photo for badge (passport-style with solid background)
• Completion of facility-specific training modules and policy reviews prior to start

Additional Requirements

• Must complete health-related requirements and lab work within 5 days of contract signing if booked within 30 days of start
• References: 2 professional references required
• Employment application and 7-year work history verification required
• Skills checklist updated annually

Uniform

• Any nursing uniform color accepted

Notes

• Prior travel experience is not accepted for first-time travelers on this unit.
• Strict adherence to expiration dates on health documents is required; documents expiring during the contract must be renewed prior to expiration to avoid removal from the floor.
