RN – CV Neuro ICU

Location

• Alexandria, Virginia

Schedule

• 12-hour night shifts, 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend
• First to float to MSICU, PCCU, and boarders

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Virginia
• Neuro ICU (2 years of experience)
• Neuro ICU experience within the last year
• BLS
• ACLS
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Unit Details

• 16-bed unit
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:2
• RN reads own telemetry strips
• No tele/monitor techs on the unit

Patient Population

• Neuro ICU patients including stroke, intracerebral hemorrhage, subarachnoid hemorrhage, subdural hematoma, brain tumors, cerebral edema/increased ICP, and hydrocephalus
• Also cares for patients with acute respiratory failure, sepsis/septic shock, pneumonia, ARDS, COPD exacerbation, asthma exacerbation, acute heart failure/pulmonary edema, AKI, DKA, HHS, GI bleeding, acute liver failure, and severe electrolyte abnormalities

Clinical Skills / Equipment

• Titrates drips
• Common drips include norepinephrine, epinephrine, vasopressin, phenylephrine, and dopamine
• Respiratory support includes mechanical ventilation, HFNC, and BiPAP/CPAP

Other Expectations

• Navy blue scrubs
• 1 major and 1 minor holiday per year
• Epic access needed
