MS/Tele Neuro 4S RN

Overview

• Location: Westminster, Colorado
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Nights
• Hours: 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week

Unit / Department

• Unit/Department: M/S 4S (Tele-Neuro)
• Float pool includes: MS & Tele
• Patient ratio: 1:4 on day shift; 1:5 on night shift

Required Qualifications

• Certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA)
• Experience / skills: cardiac drips; post cath lab
• RN responsibilities: required to titrate drips

Unit Details

• Common patient types: CHF, hypertension, chest pain work-ups, COPD exacerbations, asthma, pneumonia, pancreatitis, bowel obstructions, gastrointestinal bleeding, acute renal failure
• Drips: analgesics for pain, anticoagulants for blood clots, antihypertensives for blood pressure control
• Telemetry: tele techs monitor 24/7; RN co-signs strips
• RT equipment: CPAP, HFNC, NRB
• Charge nurse: takes an assignment
• Nurse aides: yes, approximately 10–12

Scheduling / Assignment Details

• Scheduling: self-scheduling and block scheduling
• Weekend requirement: minimum of six weekend shifts per six-week schedule
• Holiday requirement: yes
• Call / standby: determined by NM
• Assignment method: set schedule communicated through established process from NM
• Float scope: may float within Zone 3 if there is an extreme need
• Orientation: clinicians must be in state for the week of orientation; date and location assigned during orientation week

Dress Code

• Scrubs: navy blue; caribbean blue scrubs for RNs at SAN
