Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Schedule

• 12-hour night shifts
• 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend
• Holiday rotation
• May be placed on standby if census is low

Unit Details

• Multi-acuity unit with 10 beds
• Care is provided on the unit across ICU, PCU, and MST acuities
• Ratios vary by acuity:

  • ICU: 1:2
  • PCU: 1:4
  • MST: 1:5-6
  • If no nurse aide: 1:3 primary care
• Remote Monitor Techs support PCU and MST patients
• RT support is available for vents, BiPAP, and CPAP
• Charge RN manages 50 inpatient beds that include MST, PEDS, and an acuity adaptable MCU unit

Required Qualifications

• RN license
• BLS
• ACLS
• At least 2 years of ICU experience
• Must be able to titrate drips
• Must pass a dysrhythmia exam within two attempts before signing the contract

Preferred Qualifications

• 1 year of ICU experience plus 1 year of PCU/Med Surg experience may be accepted if the clinician has worked in larger facilities and has strong skills

Responsibilities

• Read strips and take 12-lead EKGs
• Monitor ICU patients at the bedside
• Work with titratable or set-rate drips including sedation, vasopressors, and insulin

Floating

• May float to an MST and Pediatric unit to care for adult MST patients
• May float to ICU and PCU at another campus to maintain competency
• May be assigned to a full Med Surg team
• May go to Pediatrics to take an adult assignment there

Additional Notes

• Radius rule: 50 miles
• Cannot have worked full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity, within the past year
• Cannot have worked perm at another CommonSpirit facility within the last 12 months
• Scrubs: any color except camouflage
• Unit orientation and hospital orientation are required
