Dietician - Nutrition (Travel Position)

Location: Brownsville, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Hours per Week: 36

Unit Information

Number of Beds: 214
Number of Staff: 34
Day Shift Coverage: 3 (2 Registered Dietitians + 1 Clinical Nutrition Manager)
Night Shift Coverage: No Registered Dietitian coverage
Patient Ratios: Approximately 12-18 patients per Registered Dietitian daily
Patient Units: ICU, NICU, PCU, Med-Surg, Telemetry, Oncology, Maternal, Behavioral Health, Cardiac Rehabilitation
Electronic Medical Records (EMR): Meditech, Health Touch

Job Responsibilities

Nutrition assessment and reassessment
Nutrition Focused Physical Exam (NFPE)
Malnutrition identification and documentation
Nutrition support recommendations
Diet education and counseling
Calorie counts
Participation in multidisciplinary rounds

Required Qualifications

Valid Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) license in Texas
Minimum 1 year of recent experience as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN)

Preferred Qualifications

Bilingual in English and Spanish
Previous acute care hospital experience
Nutrition support experience
NICU or critical care experience

Work Environment & Policies

Dress Code: Professional business casual or black scrubs
Follow ASPEN nutrition support guidelines
Complete assessments within required timeframes
Participate in interdisciplinary rounds
Adhere to hospital documentation standards
Follow infection prevention policies
Maintain compliance with Joint Commission and regulatory standards

Schedule

No weekend shifts
On-call support available from Clinical Nutrition Manager for urgent nutrition support questions and clinical needs
