Registered Nurse (RN) - PACU Travel Position

Location: Somerset, Kentucky
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Facility & Unit Overview

• 300-bed acute care hospital serving an 11-county area in south central Kentucky
• Unit: Preop/PACU (Department 704, 1st Floor)
• Trauma Level: Not designated
• Patient population includes infants, children, adults, elderly
• Patient ratios typically 2:1, except pediatric or ICU-level care (1:1)
• Equipment used: ventilators, glucose monitors, bladder scanners, Baxter IV pumps, SCDs, wound vacs
• Electronic Health Record system: Meditech Magic
• Service lines include general surgery, robotics, bariatrics, orthopedics, podiatry, ENT, urology, thoracic and vascular surgery (no open heart or cath lab), neurology, gynecology, endocrinology, pulmonology
• No labor and delivery cases (e.g., c-sections, suction D&C) handled in this unit

Position Details

• Role: Registered Nurse (RN) in Preop and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)
• Number of openings: 2
• Shift: 8:30 AM – 9:00 PM on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday
• Weekly guaranteed hours: 36
• Weekend hours: At least once, possibly twice during the contract; scheduling flexible
• Call requirements: Overnight call from 11 PM to 7 AM every other week, coinciding with a workday to allow recovery the following day
• Float requirements: Must float between Preop and PACU

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Kentucky
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum 2 years of recent experience in PreOp / PACU - Post Anesthesia Care, including experience within the last year
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification

Additional Information

• Orientation occurs weekly on Mondays
• Scrub color and dress code will be provided; no unacceptable attire specified
• Patient care involves a variety of diagnoses and treatments across multiple surgical and medical specialties
• Candidates must be located 60 miles or more from the facility to qualify as travel staff

This position is ideal for experienced RNs comfortable with critical care recovery and diverse patient populations in a fast-paced surgical environment.
