Unit Details
- Medical-surgical unit with 36 beds
- Patient ratio: 1:4 to 1:5
- Floating required to core staff areas
- Weekend requirement: 4 weekend shifts in a 4-week block
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Tennessee
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Med Surg (2 years of experience)
- Med Surg experience within the last year
- BLS
- NIHSS
Clinical Experience
- Basic patient assessments
- General care and maintenance of wounds, tracheostomy, ostomy, drains, chest tubes, strokes, and seizures
- May care for patients requiring dialysis or PCA pumps
- Heparin drip management
- Post-op care for amputations, ostomy, drains, chest tubes, oral surgeries, and wound vacs
Unit Expectations
- Bedside shift report
- Safety checks every 1 to 2 hours
- Strong communication and responsiveness
- HAI prevention with CVC and Foley monitoring using standard precautions
- Fall prevention
- 100% medication scanning, including controlled substances
- Attendance per policy

- Hoyer lift
- Broda chairs
- Alaris IV pumps
- Meditech
Dress Code
- Navy, blue, white, black, gray, or ceil blue scrubs
