Pharmacist Travel Job Opportunity

Location: Asheville, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Information

Unit: Pharmacy (Central Pharmacy)
Location: 2nd Floor, B Tower
Beds: 815
Staff: 150 total
- Day Shift: 34 pharmacists
- Night Shift: 3 pharmacists
Patient Ratios: Vary depending on area covered
Equipment: Talyst Machine, Pyxis, LAFW, CAI
EMR Systems: Cerner, Vigilanz

Shift Details

Shift: 3rd shift (11:00 PM - 9:30 AM)
Schedule: 7 days on, 7 days off (rotation may start Wednesday or Thursday)
Includes weekends

Job Responsibilities

Oversee technician staff
Verify medication orders
Clinical documentation
Operational needs of central pharmacy
Order verification
Product checking and distribution
Answer clinical questions from nurses and providers

Required Qualifications

Licensed Pharmacist in North Carolina (RPh)
Minimum 2 years of experience in pharmacy specialty
Hospital experience required
Experience overseeing technician staff required

Preferred Qualifications

Emergency Department experience
Experience with Cerner and Vigilanz systems
Prior 3rd shift experience
ACLS certification or experience (preferred if working in ED)

Personality & Work Environment

Team player
Adaptable
Able to handle high-stress environments and multitask
Positive attitude

Dress Code

Forest green scrubs (top and bottom) or black bottoms
Business casual also allowed

Pros

Lots of other travelers, nice approachable management that are on the floor in scrubs to help not criticize, updated cerner launch point, staff helps other staff, security is able to protect staff, PD is at hospital

Cons

Charge is only available to help with traumas otherwise they sit at their desk, techs assign pts to ER rooms making very heavy patient loads with multiple traumas with other nurse assignments being very light, not enough policies to protect nurses from verbal and physical violence from patients
