Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - CVICU

Location: Charlottesville, Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Unit Description

  • 24-bed Thoracic Cardiovascular ICU (TCV ICU)
  • Patient population includes those undergoing cardiac, vascular, and thoracic surgical procedures such as CABG, valve replacement/repair, heart transplantation, and lung transplantation
  • Night shift
  • Scheduling: 36 or 48 hours available; block scheduling cannot be guaranteed
  • Every other weekend and every other holiday required
  • Maximum 40 hours allowed for time off
  • Must adhere to facility float policy

Required Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse license in Virginia (VA license pending acceptable for submission)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification required
  • Epic experience required

    • Hepatitis B: Positive Hep B Surface Antibody titer required; if low/negative, additional antigen titer required
    • Varicella: 2 vaccines or titer required (declination accepted but must be documented)
    • Flu vaccination required annually (no exemptions)
  • Drug testing: 10-panel including marijuana and fentanyl, within 2 months of start and updated annually
  • Background checks including 7-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, education verification, and abuse registry search as applicable
  • Fingerprinting may be required depending on unit assignment
  • Professional appearance guidelines and other facility-specific compliance documents must be reviewed and acknowledged

  • References: Proof of 2 clinical references required
  • Skills checklist and performance evaluations may be required if previously employed with the system
