Position Details
- Experience Required: Minimum 2 years pediatric critical care experience, specifically with congenital heart disease (CHD) patients, pre/post-op care.
- First-timers: Not accepted.
- Weekend Requirement: Yes, 3 out of every 6 weekends.
- Shift: 50/50 day/night rotation (7a-7p or permanent nights).
- Float Opportunities: MSICU, MICU, NICU, ACCU.
- On-call: Not required.
- Locals Accepted: Yes, with rate differential within 50 miles.

Required Certifications
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – AHA or American Red Cross only
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or American Red Cross only
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – Required if assignment extends past 13 weeks for CVICU/CICU units
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – Preferred for NICU; must have PALS or NRP
- Other certifications may be required depending on specific unit (e.g., chemo cert for oncology, EFM for L&D)
Licensure & Verification
- Must have a valid Massachusetts state nursing license verified within 30 days of start
- NURSYS verification required within 30 days of start
- Professional certification verification required within 30 days of start (e.g., ARRT for Radiology, NBRC for Respiratory Therapy)
Background Checks & Compliance
- 10-year criminal background check within 6 months prior to start, including aliases and multiple federal/state databases
- Massachusetts Statewide iCORI clearance required within 60 days of start
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required
- Background checks must be initiated within 24 hours of booking
- Annual background check required for direct candidates
- Additional background check consent forms and fingerprinting may be required for behavioral health roles
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, cleared to work with no restrictions
- Immunizations and proof required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (Tdap after age 11, no declinations accepted)
- Negative TB test (T-Spot or 2-step PPD) within required timeframe
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) – proof of 2 vaccinations or positive titer
- Hepatitis B – series completion or declination with documentation
- Varicella – proof of 2 vaccinations or positive titer
- Seasonal Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually
- COVID-19 vaccination or approved exemption required; seasonal vaccine preferred but not mandatory
- Drug screening: 9-panel drug screen within last 12 months (not required for advanced practice nurses)
- Respiratory Safety clearance required for all travelers; facility-specific fit testing done onsite
Competency & Skills
- Pediatric pharmacology competency exam required for RNs and LPNs (not required for APNs)
- Unit-specific skills checklist within 1 year prior to start
- Competency exam required (not for APNs)
Additional Requirements
- Two professional references from two separate employers within the last 3 places of employment
- Employment application with 10-year work history; gaps over 30 days require explanation
- Proof of name change if applicable (for any documents under different names)
- Completion of facility-specific onboarding and data collection forms prior to start

- Scrub color: Any solid color allowed on all units except OR (provided)
