Registered Nurse – Blood and Marrow Transplant (BMT)
Location: Seattle, Washington
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Unit: 7NE BMT (30-bed unit specializing in blood and marrow transplantation)
Job Description
- Provide adult inpatient care for patients undergoing blood and marrow transplantation.
- Participate in managing complex care needs of oncology patients.
- Patient ratio experience preferred: 1:3 or 1:4; 1:5 considered.
- May float between similar units (7NE or 8SA medical oncology).
- Weekend work required every other weekend.
- No block scheduling accommodations unless otherwise posted.
- Guaranteed hours may be adjusted during low census; on-call or call-off policies apply.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Minimum 2 years of oncology nursing experience, including experience within the last year.
- Experience working with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:3 or 1:4 preferred; 1:5 considered.
- Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) experience required.
- Certifications:
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association.
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM).
- National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS).
Schedule & Work Environment
- Night shift, 3 twelve-hour shifts per week.
- Floating between oncology units may be required.
- Weekend shifts every other weekend.
- Work in a Magnet-designated, teaching hospital environment.
- Charting system: EPIC.
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history, OIG, SAM, EPLS/GSA, sex offender, and state-specific searches.
- Education verification or diploma/transcript required.
- Social Security card (if used on I9).
- Physical exam within 1 year prior to start.
- Fit mask test within 9-12 months of start (N95 or PAPR if needed).
- Drug screening (10-panel) within 1 year.
- Immunizations and titers required or declinations accepted for:
- Tdap (within 10 years)
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Varicella (vaccines or titer; history of disease not accepted)
- Hepatitis B (series completion or declination with waiver)
- Influenza vaccination or medical exemption/declination with education module completion
- COVID vaccination or declination (for tracking purposes)
- Tuberculosis screening: Negative PPD or chest X-ray within required timeframes.
- Suicide prevention training required for multi-state licensed nurses working in Washington.
- EPIC/Alaris integration video and attestation required prior to start.
- Facility-specific documents including photo for badge, department checklist, and PCIS agreement must be completed prior to start.
Additional Notes
- Performance evaluations may be requested at the end of the assignment.
- Parking cost approximately $10.26 daily.
- Scrub color is flexible; scrubs provided for OR personnel.
- IT support available 24/7 for email and system access setup.
- Candidates must comply with all facility-specific training and competency exams as applicable.
