Registered Nurse - Operating Room (Travel/Contract)

Location: Calabasas, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

Seeking a Registered Nurse with total joint experience for a travel contract position in an ambulatory surgery center. The role involves working primarily in the Operating Room with some ambulatory care exposure.

Schedule

• Shift: Day shift, 8 hours per day (between 6:00 AM and 5:00 PM)
• Hours per week: 40
• Weekend work: Occasional
• Floating: Not required
• On-call: Not required

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in California
• Minimum 1 year of Operating Room (OR) experience within the last year
• Experience in an outpatient setting
• Ambulatory care experience
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• ACLS certification
• BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross

Additional Requirements

• First-time travel nurses are accepted (no prior travel experience required)
• Government-issued photo ID required
• Background check including 7-year county residence, nationwide search, sex offender search, and others as specified
• Physical exam within 1 year confirming ability to meet essential job functions
• Fit mask test within 1 year (N95 or equivalent)
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year; if history of positive TB, additional documentation required
• Immunizations/vaccinations required:

  • 2 MMR vaccines or positive titers (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
  • Hepatitis B vaccine series, titer, or declination
  • 2 Varicella vaccines or positive titer
  • Seasonal flu vaccination (mandatory during flu season)
• Drug screening panel within 1 year (excluding Marijuana/THC)
• Professional references: 2 required, at least 1 supervisory

Competency and Testing

• Medication competency exam with minimum 80% passing score (2 attempts allowed)
• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required (time sensitive, up to 3 attempts allowed)
• Pass/fail EKG assessment during orientation (specific units only)
• Medication test during orientation (not pass/fail)

Onboarding and Compliance

• Photo for badge required (must meet strict photo guidelines)
• Must sign various facility-specific documents including code of conduct, job hazard analysis, social media policy, and attendance policy
• Fire safety card required within first 6 months (course provided onsite during orientation)
• Scheduling requests cannot be accommodated

Preferences

• Candidates interested in converting to permanent employment are preferred
