Operating Room Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract

Location: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Shift: Day shift, Monday to Friday, 6:45 AM – 3:15 PM (8 hours/day, 40 hours/week)
• Schedule includes:

  • (2) Weekend night shifts every 6 weeks (8 or 12 hours depending on staffing)
  • Holiday call: 1 summer and 1 winter holiday (8 or 12 hours depending on staffing)
  • Work on 1 summer and 1 winter holiday (8 or 12 hours depending on staffing)
• Floating assignments may include GI unit or Surgery Center
• Experience preferred in scrubbing and circulating in the OR
• Charting system used: Cerner

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Pennsylvania
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• Minimum 3 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including OR experience within the last year
• Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients
• Experience with liver and kidney cases
• One completed travel assignment
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross

Certifications & Competencies

• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)
• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
• Pass/Fail Basic Dysrhythmia Exam during orientation (mandatory to pass)
• Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement (annual)
• Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing for dysrhythmia exam

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 2 months of start date
• Fit test (3M 1870+ mask) within 12 months prior to start (must be completed before start)
• Current Tdap vaccine or titer
• Negative TB test (Qgold or TSPOT within 90 days) or chest X-ray if positive
• Annual TB questionnaire
• Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: 2 vaccines or positive titer (exempt if born before 1957)
• Hepatitis B: series, titer, or declination accepted
• Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer
• Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (10/1/2025–4/1/2026)
• COVID-19 vaccine no longer required prior to start; medical/religious exemptions accepted with masking requirements

Background & Compliance

• 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including PA PATCH search (must be uploaded separately)
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required upon hire
• Education verification (official transcript acceptable)
• Pennsylvania Child Abuse Search within 12 months of start
• Pennsylvania Department of Human Services fingerprinting results within 12 months of start (required for PA placements)
• Drug screening: 10-panel (9-panel without THC acceptable) within 60 days prior to start
• 2 professional references within 2 years of start
• Work history verification as applicable

Additional Information

• Facility-specific education modules assigned and must be completed prior to orientation (approx. 6 hours)
• Photo required for badge issuance ASAP
• Pass/fail dysrhythmia exam during orientation; failure results in contract cancellation
• Must comply with all facility and state-specific documentation and credentialing requirements

This position is ideal for experienced OR Registered Nurses with trauma experience who have completed prior travel contracts and hold a BSN. The role requires flexibility for floating and weekend/holiday shifts within a structured day shift schedule.
