Behavioral Health LVN / LPN Travel/Contract Job - Sacramento, California

Job Details

• Position: Behavioral Health LVN / LPN
• Location: Sacramento, California
• Employment Type: Travel/Contract
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Shift Options:

  • Day Shift: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (5 days/week)
  • Evening Shift: 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM
  • Night Shift: 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM (5 days/week)
• Hours: 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week
• Orientation Dates: May 30–31, with shifts starting June 1

Patient Population & Diagnoses

• Adult patients with:

  • ADHD
  • Bipolar Disorder
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder
  • Eating Disorders
  • PTSD
  • Anxiety Disorder
  • Depression / Major Depressive Disorder
  • Psychotic Disorder
  • Oppositional Defiant Disorder
• Additional conditions:

  • Substance Abuse Disorder
  • Alcohol or Opiate Withdrawal (usually stable on admission)
  • Hypertension
  • Diabetes
  • Geriatric patients at high fall risk
  • Patients experiencing pain
  • Occasional patients with wounds

Unit & Equipment

• Inpatient psychiatric setting
• Use of electronic patient rounding tools
• Rover device for taking pictures, entering vital signs, and food intake
• ObservSmart monitoring system

Required Certifications & Licenses

• California LVN License (active and valid)
• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) or ProAct or PMAB (Management of Assaultive Behavior) – required for Behavioral Health LVN/LPNs at this facility; must be completed through approved vendors (in-person preferred)

Experience

• Recent inpatient psychiatric experience preferred
• No explicit minimum years of experience stated

Background & Compliance Requirements

• 7-year background check required within 6 months of start, including:

  • Social Security trace with all aliases
  • County searches for all locations lived/worked/schooled in last 7 years
  • Nationwide sex offender search within 90 days of start
  • Education verification (highest level achieved)
  • FACIS Level 3 screening within 2 weeks of start and monthly thereafter
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks, updated annually
• Employment application must include full 7 years of work history with no gaps
• Employment verification for up to 7 years required; gaps over 30 days must be explained
• References: 2 professional references required (Aya requirement only)

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start (must state "cleared for work" or equivalent)
• Fit mask test within 1 year, renewed annually (specific mask types required)
• Adult Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years
• Negative TB test (QGold or TSPOT within 90 days or 2-step PPD) renewed annually
• Immunity or vaccination for:

  • Measles (Rubeola)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (series or declination)
  • Varicella
• Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids per CA law)
• Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination during flu season (Nov 1 – Apr 30)
• Color blindness exam if applicable (in-person only)
• Respiratory safety clearance prior to start, renewed annually

Competency & Testing

• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
• Competency exams required as applicable to profession (minimum passing score 80%)
• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam may be required for some telemetry units

• No Return to Office (RTO) accepted for this position
• Unit-specific skills checklist required, renewed annually (Aya requirement)

Requirements / Qualifications

• Valid LPN / LVN license in California
• Minimum of 1 year Long Term Care experience within the last year
• Behavioral Health experience
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• CPI, ProAct, PMAB, or MAB certification for management of assaultive behavior
